Outlook Supported Missionaries in Central Africa: David & Marsha

David and Marsha have worked with Christian Missionary Fellowship (CMF) in East and Northeast Africa since 1984.  Before that, David was a manager for an airline.  Both David and Marsha come from the western United States.  They have two grown daughters.

Their work in Africa has been Bible teaching, discipling, Cell Church planting, and administration for Christian Missionary Fellowship teams in the three countries they've worked in.  They spent nine years in Eastern Africa, three and a half years in West Africa, and six years in a closed Northeast African country.

Now in Central Africa, their goal is to launch a movement of multiplying cell-church groups as an extension of CMF’s church-planting ministry.  David teaches cell church principles and strategy in a Bible college and disciples a select group of men each week.  He also serves as the CMF team leader. Marsha teaches Bible Study Fellowship classes for women.

Outlook Supported Missionaries in the Honduras: Trevor & Valerie

(website)

Trevor and Valerie have been working in Honduras since August of 2000.  The His Eyes Ministry is an organization they started to serve God’s work and missionaries in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  Specifically, this mission serves the work of the Body of Christ Christian Clinic (Clinica Cristiana Cuerpo de Cristo).

The His Eyes Ministry exists to reach Honduras and beyond for Christ through outreach evangelism. Their purpose and mission is accomplished through outreach evangelism ministries such as medical clinics, education, food and clothing distribution, construction and sports ministry, as well as long-term impact such as church planting, leadership development, and nurturing existing churches.

Outlook Supported Missionaries in Italy: Jim & Caranita Wolsieffer

(website)

Jim and Caranita are originally from Indianapolis, IN.  Jim attended the Oaklandon Christian Church while Caranita was from the Greenwood Christian Church.  They met at Camp Allendale when they were only 12 and 11 years old.  They are both graduates of Johnson Bible College and have been serving in Italy since 1971.  Their two daughters have married very fine Italian Christians and both couples are active in their local churches in Italy.  They have four grandchildren, Federica, Riccardo, Anyssa, and Raffaele.

Jim preaches on a rotation basis and Caranita is a Christian counselor.  The Wolsieffer's also have experience in camp, puppets, drama, children and youth work, radio broadcasting, slide and power point presentations, home Bible studies, and small group  work.

There are six local evangelical churches that are currently using the facilities in one way or another.  Approximately 70% of the participants in the various activities offered at the Center are not Christians which indicates the great potential for outreach in the area.

Outlook Supported Missionaries in Japan:  Phil & Kim Kornegay

(website)  (blog)

Phil is the Team Expansion Team leader for the Tokyo group.  The Kornegay's work with Corey and Nicki Shields, currently in Niigata prefecture, and Tim and Lisa Turner of Central Japan Christian Mission who serve as Field Advocates. The Japan Field Coordinator is David Atkins of Team Expansion Taiwan.

Japan is a materially rich, but spiritually starving country.  Less than 1% of Japanese people claim to be Christians.  Japanese Shintoism, Buddhism from India and China, and many other cult groups have distracted people from the truths of the Bible.  Most Japanese people say that they are not religious, but they still follow the religious traditions of their families—visiting shrines and temples, keeping a 'god shelf' in their homes, and praying to ancestors.  Societal and cultural pressures have led to high rates of mental and emotional problems.  Japan has one of the highest suicide rates among industrialized countries.

Phil and Kim Kornegay are from Port Orange, FL, and serve in Japan as Team Expansion Tokyo.  They are both graduates of Florida Christian College.  Phil is also a University of Florida graduate.  After serving in youth ministry with local churches for 10 years, they raised support and moved to Japan in June 2003.  They worked for 3 years with the Machida Kiristo No Kyokai (a Church of Christ with Tim Turner and CJCM Mission), teaching English conversation and Bible lessons to children in a weekday, after-school program.  God also used their family in college ministry, home Bible study groups and
bi-lingual preaching.  They both met regularly with a tutor for Japanese study.

Outlook Supported Missionary in Kenya:  Wallace & Mary Kamau
                                                                               Keith & Kathy Ham

(website)

Korogocho is one of the largest slum neighborhoods of Nairobi, Kenya. Home to 150,000 to 200,000 people pressed into a 1.5 square kilometers, northeast of the city center, Korogocho was founded as a shanty town on the then outskirts of the city.  In 2009 it was estimated to be the fourth largest slum in Nairobi, after Kibera, Mathare Valley, and Mukuru kwa Njenga.

We are working with CMF (Christian Missionary Fellowship) and Hope Partnership in serving the community by:

  • Providing education, clothing, and nutritious meals for the poorest children in the village through the Child Sponsorship program.

  • Offering a strong CHE (Community Health Evangelism) program, including the ongoing training of the CHE evangelists.

  • Teaching HIV/AIDS awareness and education, as well as instruction on caring for those living with this disease.

  • Sponsoring a microfinance loan program for launching small businesses.

  • Offering basic health and wellness education.

  • Planting churches, offering family counseling and religious education.

Most new Christians who enter a home group or church in the slums of Nairobi come with a variety of family problems.  Hope Partnership provides in-home family counseling by Christian social workers and teachers.  Of course, the counselors always continue to share the love of Christ with their clients.

Outlook Supported Missionary in Latvia:  David Roney

David Roney will be serving with Josiah Venture (JV) in Latvia starting in 2011. He grew up
a part of Outlook Christian Church. In 2005 he graduated with a degree in Youth Ministry from Moody Bible Institute. He first served with JV in 2004 as a Summer Intern in the Czech Republic.  He returned to serve with JV, spending six months in Croatia in 2009 and three weeks in Latvia in the summer of 2010.  As a model maker, David will be partnering with a local church to build relationships with young people, disciple them to be like Jesus Christ, and use his musical gifts to help with the Fusion Ministry.

Outlook Supported Missionaries in Venezuela:  Jorge & Diana Lugo

(blog)

Everything happened in God’s wonderful plan.  At the age of 18, Jorge accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, a missionary family led me to union with Christ in Christian baptism.  As he matured in Christ, he began to serve Him in various ministries, and eventually was trained how to preach and serve as a leader in the church.  Diana was raised in a missionary family that worked with the Christian Church in Caracas, Venezuela, and later Jorge was part of the leadership of the Christian Church in Caracas. At the same time he was working with the police department of Chacao County.  He was employed there for 8 years.  He later made the decision to follow the Lord completely and dedicate his life to full-time, Christian service.

When Jorge was 28, he made the decision to move to Cincinnati, Ohio, to study at the Christian University there. He began to better prepare himself to become an active missionary to his beloved country of Venezuela with great hopes and expectations, and a great vision from the Lord.  When he arrived to study, he was given a scholarship with the plan of returning to train and serve in his native country.  In December 2005, he finished his studies at Cincinnati Christian University.

Caracas is the capital of Venezuela.  It has nearly 7 million people.  Venezuela has a diversity of nationalities, mostly a mixture of European and South American nationalities. One of the advantages of working in Caracas is the nice weather year-round, without any drastic seasonal changes.  This is a big advantage, because they can work outside doing street evangelism, as well as other outreach, without being interrupted much by the weather.

Since they came to Venezuela in August 2007, they have been working with the ICE (Eastside Christian Church) church plant along side of Team Expansion Missionaries, Steve and Priscila Dye.

Outlook Supported Missionaries in West Africa:  Marty & Tina

Marty and Tina left for the mission field in January 1995.  First they attended a 3-month African Orientation Course to help them adjust to life on the continent.

West Africa contains 3 major Muslim ethnic groups (Susu, Fula, and Maninka) and around 28 other minority groups, most of which are majority Muslim and/or animistic (practicing their traditional religions).  Current stats call West Africa Muslim 85%, Christian 1 1/2%, and animistic 13 1/2%.

Marty and Tina are currently in the United States on furlough, as of January 2010.

CMF Child Sponsorship

CMF and Missions of Hope International offer a future for children through their child sponsorship program. Children selected for this program receive an excellent education, as well as food, clothing, medical care, books, and counseling. They also gain an understanding of the love of God.

For just a little more than a dollar a day, you can invest in a child and promote change in his or her community. Your sponsorship of a child provides opportunity and blessing.

Donors may choose to sponsor a day student for $35 per child per month, or a boarding school/high school student for $70 per child per month.  Each donor receives a packet of information about child sponsorship with a picture of the child sponsored. Each sponsor can write to his child throughout the sponsorship, and will receive three letters from his child each year.
